The PNC is asking for your help with replenishing their food pantry. They are low on the following items: pineapple, soups (chicken, beef, vegetable), chili, jelly, macaroni & cheese, pasta noodles. Volunteers are needed to welcome new families from Afghanistan this year. The first is expected soon. Active recruitment is underway to assemble a team of several volunteers to prepare for their arrival, welcome them to New London, and provide ongoing help as they transition to life in their new community. The work is divided into two general areas (1) preparing for arrival and (2) ongoing activity. To learn how you can help welcome a refugee family, please attend a Thursday evening volunteer meetup which is held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at St. James Episcopal Church, 76 Federal Street, New London. For additional information about Start Fresh, go to www.startfreshct.org.
Come see our new art show about old Noank Baptist Church! We have turned the Parlor into Gallery One Seventy-Five where you will see art, photos and artifacts from both distant and recent history of our church. This exhibit emphasizes the character of our congregation through the years, as we reflect on our heritage as a loving and welcoming church community.
Come and enjoy the wonderful assortment of mementos that depict the character of the congregation here at NBC. You can come at any time during the week and browse at your leisure.
Chancel flowers are always valued in our times of worship. We invite you to sign up for available Sundays on the listing in the outer office bulletin board. A donation of $25 toward the cost is much appreciated. Please make your check payable to “Noank Baptist Church” with “flower fund” in the memo line. You can slip the check into the brass slot on the office door, place it in the Sunday worship collection plate, or send it via USPS.
During Lent (beginning Feb. 18), members of the Flower Committee will create a special arrangement for the season, so no extra flowers will be needed during this. Dates are available in April. outer office.
