Music is an integral part of our worship experience at Noank Baptist Church. Our Sunday worship includes congregational singing, choral anthems and handbell or instrumental selections. We offer Youth and Senior choirs for singers.
Specifically, we have a youth choir, grades 4 thru 12 which performs every other week. The Lighthouse Cove choir, grade 3 and below, sing during the worship service several times throughout the year.
Our main church organ is an 18-rank, 2-manual Moller instrument. The sanctuary is considered very good acoustically and is used for concerts by a variety of groups. We have recently refurbished a smaller pipe organ which is portable and used in both the chapel and the main Sanctuary.
In addition, various musicians drawn from the congregationand the wider community representing music from diverse musical traditions are included in many of our services. These include classical musicians, jazz musicians, shanty singers, and gospel groups, to name a few.
Special Musical Events
Of primary importance is community outreach through music. Our meeting house has been home to many musical events. We frequently host the Mystic Area Ecumenical Choir Festival, founded in 1968 by Noank Baptist Church, host the Coast Guard Academy musicians on a regular basis as well as the folk group Lee and Gretz, to name a few.
